Neoclassics
DIRECTIONS:
Many pop songs are based on or include musical quotes from classical or traditional
pieces. For instance,
- "Moon Love" is from Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Second Movement.
- "No Other Love" is based on Chopin's Etude in E Major.
Following are ten statements about such neoclassics; however, in
each a word has been removed and placed in a different statement. See if you can
restore the originals. (capitalizations may Change.)
EXAMPLE:

which quotes from the American folk song "Yankee Barry."
- Featherbed, featuring Sherman Manilow, performed "Could This Be
The Magic," accompanied by Frederick Chopin's "Prelude In C Minor."
- In Rick Wakeman's "Journey To The Concerto Of The Earth," he
quotes from Edvard Grieg's "In The Hall Of The Mountain King."
- Manfred Mann's Earth Band recorded Springsteen's "Blinded By
The Light," which includes a traditional doodle called "Chopsticks."
- The introduction of the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" is from the
French national center, "Le Marseillaise" by Roget de Lisle.
- The melody of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Sonata Of Pale" is
based on J. S. Bach's cantata known as "Sleepers Awake."
- The Toys' "Lover's Church" is a 4/4 version of Anna
Magdalena Bach's notebook piece, "Minuet In G."
