Armenian composers

ROSS BAGDASARIAN is best known by his stage name, DAVE SEVILLE.
He was the creator of Alvin & the Chipmunks.
He also wrote pop music, e.g. "Come On-A My House," made famous by Rosemary Clooney.
He acted in movies and in a Broadway play written by his cousin, William Saroyan.

ARAM KHATCHATURIAN moved to Moscow when the Soviets took over his homeland.
He became one of the leading composers of the Soviet Union.
He is probably best known for the "Sabre Dance" from his ballet "Gayane."
You would recognize it if you heard it.

KONSTANTIN ORBELYAN became a professional pianist in his teens.
At 15, he was invited to perform with the Armenian State Pop Orchestra.
Later, he became its director and stayed for 38 years.
In addition to classical music, he became known for film scoring and jazz compositions.

(The Russler has Armenians in the family, so this is of special interest.)
