Introduction

Cassy Chappell

Mrs. Chappell remembers "making beginning noises on the oboe." Maybe that's one of the things that makes her a great teacher. She can identify with a student down to the earliest stages of learning an instrument.

Cassy began taking piano lessons at age five, and continued non-stop all the way through college. She also played in a piano guild, stretching herself beyond the challenges of merely taking lessons.

In sixth grade, she began learning oboe, and in high school she auditioned for and won a seat in the All-Region Band.

She earned her Bachelor of Music Education at Harding University. After graduation, she directed the Mighty Fox Bands in Caddo Mills for six years, where she was voted CM ISD Teacher Of The Year.

During her years as a band director, she was the principal oboist for the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra. She left both of those pursuits so she and her husband Dennis could expand the family. Sadie and Hudson agree she's the best mommy ever!

She has been privileged to play in the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center on several occasions. She has also played piano at various private parties and sung at many weddings.

She played and sang in the pop group that evolved into the Elmwood Court Jazz Band, and in addition to providing all the keyboard duties, she occasionally pulls out the oboe for their "wind ensemble" selections.

One of her favorite composers for piano is Beethoven, who also ranks high for orchestral music, such as his Fifth Symphony. She is also crazy about Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique. When it comes to vocal music, she really enjoys a cappella done well!

Allegro Music is lucky to have Mrs Chappell, and you would be blessed to have her as a teacher.
