GOOD SAMARITAN / PRODIGAL SON / THE TALENTS
parables from Jesus whose [man-made] titles include oft-misunderstood words
- SAMARITAN was a person from Samaria. They're all dead now. If you watch the news you might think it means "person who helps strangers."
- PRODIGAL means wasteful. When I was a child I thought it meant "penitent." I found out a lot of other people did too.
- TALENT, in this story, is a unit of money worth 3,000 shekels.
