The New Testament was written in a language called Koine (pronounced "KOI-nay"). The word "koine" was the Koine word for common.
In other words, it was written in ordinary language, not some special "theological" language. It would be nice if the translators
would translate it into plain English. For example,
- EKKLESIA, usually translated "church," means an assembly (congregation) of people, not a religious building.
- BAPTISMA, usually transliterated "baptism," means submersion (dunking), not just any application of water.
- DIAKONOS, usually translated "deacon," means servant, not an officer in someone's hierarchical order.
Sorry, I got sidetracked. What was the question again?
