DAVID PROWSE / SEBASTIAN SHAW / JAMES EARL JONES

portrayers of Darth Vader (a.k.a. Anakin Skywalker) in Return of the Jedi (a.k.a. Star Wars: Episode VI)

Don't be afraid of the Darth.

Thanks to Shawn McManus for the idea.
He explains why it took three men to play a single character:

  1. David Prowse is the 6' 11" body builder who wore the suit. However, he sounds kinda like a teletubby.
  2. Sebastian Shaw was selected to be the face of Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker because he was a famous British actor, although he didn't have the voice that Lucas was looking for when he made the first movie.
  3. James Earl Jones, the only American of the trio, has a voice that speaks for itself. (No pun intended.)

Of course, when you take all six Star Wars episodes into account, you have to add two more actors who prtrayed Anakin:

  1. Jake Lloyd (Episode I)
  2. Hayden Christensen (Episodes II & III)
